However, its oxytocic activity is much weaker, and is not employed as an oxytocic. itgiven by mouth and its principal therapeutic use is in the treatment and prophylaxis of migraine headache, for which the drug is quite effective, but it is of very little use during an acute attack.

Precautions of Methysergide (Hydrogen Maleate)
Methylsergide should be used with caution (if contains tartrazine) in patients with aspirin hypersensitivity because it may cause allergic type reaction (including bronchial asthma). The drug should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. It should never be used in the patient with renal impairment.
