Contraindication of Propoxyphene
Propoxyphene is contraindicated in conditions like Paralytic ileus,Respiratory depression,Hypersensitivity to any component of product,Severe asthma.
Side Effects of Propoxyphene
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Propoxyphene are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Weakness, Dizziness, Headache, Drowsiness, Fatigue, Restlessness, Insomnia, Confusion, Sedation, Malaise, Hypotension, Light headedness, Paradoxical effects.
Precautions of Propoxyphene
Propoxyphene should be used with caution in patients with central nervous system (CNS) depression, convulsive disorder, ulcerative colitis, fever, recent gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, bradyarrhythmias, supraventricular tachycardia, pulmonary diseases. Patients should exercise caution while driving or performing tasks requiring alertness because it may produce drowsiness.
