Tiotropium (Tiotropium)
Overview of Tiotropium
A quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic, it has a prolonged bronchodilator action. It is under investigation for the management of reversible airways obstruction. It has a shorter duration of action.
Indication of Tiotropium
Tiotropium is primarily indicated in conditions like Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Severe vomiting in pregnancy.

Side Effects of Tiotropium
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Tiotropium are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Nausea, Constipation, Dry mouth, Urinary retensionX, Pharyngitis, Sinusitis.
Precautions of Tiotropium
Antimuscainic bronchodilators (e.g Tiotropium) should be used with caution in renal impairement, glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia and bladder outflow obstruction, pregnancy and breast-feeding.
