Ferrous Gluconate used to prevent or treat low iron blood levels in iron deficiency anemia.
Indication of Ferrous Gluconate
Ferrous Gluconate is primarily indicated in conditions like Iron deficiency anemia., and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Chronic lymphocytic lymphoma, Iron deficiency anaemia, Persistant neutropenia in advanced hiv infection, Severe chronic neutropenia.
Contraindication of Ferrous Gluconate
Ferrous Gluconate is contraindicated in conditions like Hemochromatosis,Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects of Ferrous Gluconate
Ferrous Gluconate produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Coma, Shock. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Ferrous Gluconate therapy.,The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Ferrous Gluconate are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Nausea, Chills, Flushing, Convulsions, Dehydration, Staining of teeth, dizziness, Low blood presure, Diarrhoea, Vomiting blood.
Precautions of Ferrous Gluconate
Discontinue use if symptoms of intolerance appear. Occasional gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort, as nausea, may be minimized by taking it with meal.
